ABOUT MARKUS MARS:
Markus Fahrenberger, hailing from the Austrian Alps, embarked on a musical odyssey in the 1980s that began with classical training and evolved into a diverse exploration of jazz, rock, blues, and world fusion. In the early 2000s, under the alias Madmax Fiddler, he fused his love for electronic music with his mastery of the drums and electric violin, creating a distinctive style characterized by percussive beats generated from the violin's body. As part of the award-winning progressive rock EDM duo Fatmagic, Markus achieved notable success in the 2010s, releasing multiple albums and garnering recognition on international charts. With a wealth of experience performing in over 30 countries and collaborating with numerous bands and orchestras, he found inspiration in the volcanic landscapes of Hawai'i Island.
Under his alter ego, Son of Mars, Markus delved into DJing and produced his debut IDM album, "Interdimensional," blending electronic world music with synthesizers and live instruments. This vibrant musical journey showcased symphonic elements interwoven within a lush synthetic soundscape, accompanied by bass-heavy beats and the unique addition of a telescopic didgeridoo and a 5-string electric violin.
In a bold move, tired from an oversaturated, same-old, mostly AI-generated music market, Markus transformed his approach to music creation in 2018, eschewing pre-composed pieces and embracing live improvisation. Crafting intricate effects chains in his studio, he began composing entire concerts - psychedelic symphonies - from scratch, recording and mixing them in real-time with an audience present, drawing inspiration from esteemed artists like Jean-Luc Ponty, Steve Reich, Darol Anger, and Andrew Bird.
Guided by his lifelong devotion to music and spirituality, Markus discovered a profound connection to his name. "Markus," meaning "dedicated to Mars," resonated deeply with his musical essence of the destruction of the status quo to make room for new paths of creation. Drawing inspiration from Hawaiian mythology and his newfound connection to Buddhism, he realized that the Hawaiian god Kū held the equivalent role to Mars, and, interestingly, "ku" also signified emptiness in Buddhism. Reflecting on this revelation, he embraced the essence of his artistic identity, and Markus Mars was born.
Each performance by Markus Mars is a one-of-a-kind auditory masterpiece, influenced by his metamorphic musical journey and shaped by the vibrations of the present moment. Occasionally, these live experiences are released as albums, inviting listeners to indulge in a sonic superfood crafted with care and passion.
Markus Mars also offers meditative live-streaming sound baths and sound-guided meditations under the name Audible Peace to foster a harmonious world. Guided by his dedication to music and spirituality, Markus Mars continues to create transformative sonic experiences that resonate with audiences worldwide.
